The first trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane came from out of nowhere. (Sort of like an RKO.) Directed by Dan Trachtenberg and produced by J.J. Abrams, the film had a similarly mysterious Super Bowl TV spot that teased the potential appearance of a certain monster from the first film.

There’s a monster… or just a roaring thing.
Abrams has said this movie is a “blood relative” to the first Cloverfield, which is vague to say the least. The film was shot under the production title Valencia. This may mean that 10 Cloverfield Lane is an entirely different film separate from the original Cloverfield that’s been re-titled to capitalize on a bankable name, or perhaps the production title was a little bit of subterfuge to keep prying eyes away from the project.
If anything, we’ll see waht Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman, and John Gallagher, Jr. are up to in that bunker on March 11th.
