I’m a little surprised. After the second-season debut of 13 Reasons Why, I was almost certain that Netflix’s mental-health teen drama was canned. Critics did not receive it well; partly due to the poor way it depicts mental illness and suicide in a show revolving around the subject.
And yet, Netflix announced today that 13 Reasons Why is returning for Season 3.
The announcement video doesn’t show very much at all. We see a teenager grab a brown paper bag out a locker from offscreen, and that’s all. Not much to get people excited. Despite my own dislike of the show, 13 Reasons Why does have a sizable audience, enough to make it become Netflix’s top trending digital original on it’s release a few months back.
