47 Meters Down: Uncaged trailer has found just the right depth apparently

I still saw a cage though

It's kinda surreal to think that Jaws at one time held the title for scariest thing in America. That shark was so effective at freaking people out the actual shark population declined by a whole lot as a result. In the movies they quickly reverted to parody (or worse) until the terribly named Entertainment Studios made the original 47 Meters Down, a solid picture that made sharks relatively scary again and a  good chunk of change at the box office  to boot. The laws of horror movies state that you can produce as many sequels as long as you make back your budget, so the first one, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged is on its way with a new trailer to boot.

Keeping things simple, no one's even given a name in the trailer. In fact, you only see the faces of the film's three leads for maybe a second in total. They're heading off to a remote part of the island in that only cool locals know. However, as the three ladies dive through old Mayan ruins, gasp, evil, hopefully possessed sharks start attacking them. You've already figured out the entire plot already, but the visuals actually intriguing. Diving through ruins offers some great claustrophobic shots and the inherent darkness underwater means the sharks won't just be big and strong, but also sneaky. That's a welcome escalation from the first one.

As someone who's open water scuba certified, being able to dive to 47 meters is not easy. There are special courses to learn that skill as well as wreckage diving because of the high amount of danger. The women in the trailer seem to be master divers at like 19, so I'm sure they can handle a few pieces of cartilage with teeth. 47 Meters Down: Uncaged releases August 16th, 2019.
