By I’m taking a moment out of a busy day to place my stamp here and set a precedent for myself. See, I applied for this here Flixist writer’s position back when it was first announced on Destructoid, and while I didn’t get it for, I’m sure, very good and reasonable …uh, REASONS… I didn’t enjoy (who does?) the rejection. It made me wonder, though; was it for the best? Could I have contributed enough valuable content to be a contender, or was it a pipe dream, like the one Merian C. Cooper had when he envisioned his giant monster movie.
Of course, Cooper’s dream became one of the greatest adventure films of all time, as well as a special effects marvel which holds up well today. Not a good analogy. Perhaps I’m due for Carousel. After all, I’m 36 with a beautiful wife and a young son…Is the gem on my hand flashing, beckoning for me to retire from “relevant” culture?
I say, emphatically, no! The beauty of this art form called film is the way the old can be new again, the way it documents history, the way it informs us of our own culture as well as the cultures of the world.

There is never an expiration date on history. In fact, the more you know, the more you realize how little you actually know. The same with film. As I dive in and discover and rediscover what has gone before and what is to come, I am awed and amazed by the impact and relevence that the medium has on our lives and how we view each other and the world.
So, this is to put myself on notice, and anyone who is willing to read the ramblings of a sc-fi/fantasy/tearjerker/adventure/horror/documentary film buff. I'm excited about the possibilities here, and intend to have a voice in shaping those possibilities.
