Flix for Short is Flixist’s way of showing off awesome short films we find around the web. Do you have a favorite short you saw? Why not tell us about it in our Cblogs? We’d love to see what short films you can make and find!
A few months ago this fantastic short film came in through our tips line, but due to a video embed bug we were fixing we decided to not post it. Now that Liz has been sharing several short films each week, I think it’s time to finally give this animation the attention it deserves!
Created by Headless Productions, a Barcelona based animation company, the video above is the short film that acts as the opening scene for I’m A Monster, one of their many projects that has yet to be produced. It starts off with a family packing up the car and leaving on a vacation, but it’s no ordinary family. Don’t let the adorable child and Pixaresque pet dog fool you, the parents are quite the oddities.
Instead of a gorgeous mother we’re shown a modest woman with a gap tooth and the widest cartoon hips I’ve ever seen. As for her husband, well, apparently she had the hots for an excessively frail . . . monster. Did she meet him hiding under her bed? Is their daughter part “monster” as the title suggests? Sadly, we don’t have many answers yet, but this is one I’ll be keeping my eye on since I don’t remember liking Monsters Inc. too much, and don’t have high hopes for its delayed prequel. For now, just enjoy this video’s vivid color schemes and enjoyable art style for its background scenes.
