I don’t watch scary movies because I can’t handle the suspense. What I can handle, however, is a copious amount of gore. Unfortunately, many scary movie franchises rely on overtly graphic scenes to instill cheap thrills and scares in audiences. Final Destination is one of those franchises. The whole premise of the franchise involves a group of characters cheating Death, just to be chased by it. Ironically, this serves as a metaphor for the entirety of the series. Just… stop already.
Although, to be honest, death by Lasik is pretty creative.
The official synopsis reads:
In this fifth installment, Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man’s premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death’s sinister agenda.
Final Destination 5 will be out in US theaters on August 26th.
