Say what you will about The A-Team movie, but for a contrived action film based on a ridiculous 70’s television show, that movie was fun as hell. Recently at a press junket for The Grey, Joe Carnahan stated that an A-Team sequel would not be happening due to Fox losing money on the first film. While that may be sad and all for casual fans of the vapid action film, the consolation prize is SOOO much better.
Shortly after his statement about “not getting tied up in that whole world of sequels and franchises”, Joe Carnahan stated that he recently had a discussion with Ray Liotta about a sequel to the heavily underated 2002 film Narc. He stated:
“I was talking to Ray Liotta the other night about a Narc sequel. I told him the opening…if I could do that movie for like ten million bucks and not be bothered and be left to do my thing I would do it in a second. Creative control means more to me than having my name on a big-budget thing.”
Though it seems that Narc was heavily forgotten as time passed and remembered only by myself and Alex Katz, the fact that Carnahan still holds Narc closely enough to want to make a sequel makes my heart sing. Though in all probability this sequel will never happen or we’ll get a Smoking Aces 2 straight-to-dvd type scenario, it’s still nice to know that there’s a possibility of this happening.
