By On paper, I’m pretty sure I’d dismiss The Five-Year Engagement as a stock, uninteresting relationship comedy. That said, despite the Bridesmaids-ripoff ad campaign plastered all over town, I’m actually looking forward to seeing it. I mean, no matter how crappy the material might be, there’s, as far as I can tell, there’s pretty much no one involved with the picture that I’m not a fan of. There’s Nicolas Stoller and Jason Segal writing (that’s the team that brought us The Muppets, remember), and starring Segal, Emily Blunt, Allison Brie, and Chris Pratt. There’s not really a weak link in that group, in my opinion.
This red band trailer is only barely a red band, as there’s really just the odd dirty word and a really brief, reasonably chaste moment where Jason Segal is missionary giving it to Emily Blunt. So there’s that?
