By You know The Watch better under its previous title, Neighborhood Watch. If you’re like me or Liz, you just need to know that Richard Ayoade is in it, so you need to glue your eyeballs to the movie screen so you can absorb every projected lumen of his glory. For the rest of you, The Watch is a raunchy-looking comedy about a group of neighborhood guys (Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Mr. Ayoade) that fancy themselves a badass neighborhood watch dealing with a sudden, hidden alien invasion. It’s like The Burbs, but not ultimately disappointing. All in all, it looks like a funny trailer, and with a script from Seth Rogen and Even Goldberg, this may be the first Ben Stiller movie I’ve not hated/felt uncomfortable during since…damn, Zoolander, maybe? Maybe Tropic Thunder at best.
Fox recently pulled the teaser trailer for the film from theaters, which features Jonah Hill doing the gun fingers thing at a small child, citing the ongoing media frenzy of the Trayvon Martin case and a wish not to offend. Clearly, they’ve taken this a few steps further, changing the title entirely.
