The Dark Knight Rises will be 2 hours and 45 minutes, so says AMC. For comparison, Batman Begins was 2 hours 20 minutes, The Dark Knight was 2 hours 32 minutes, and Dr. Phibes Rises Again was 1 hour 28 minutes. AMC also announced a Dark Knight Marathon for July 19th, which I assume means all three Nolan Batman movies in one long, butt-numbing, inflatable-donut-is-mandatory day.
This is similar to the Ultimate Marvel Marathon for The Avengers, which was six movies in one day, clocking in at a staggering 1.7 to 2.1 Sátántangós on the endurance scale. Given the run times listed (and minus Dr. Phibes), the Dark Knight Marathon will run at least 7 hours 37 minutes, though more like 8 hours 30 minutes to account for breaks. (A more manageable 1 to 1.13 Sátántangós.)
I didn’t do the Ultimate Marvel Marathon, but this seems more manageable and won’t necessitate the services of a Sherpa. I smell a challenge. Cue up the Hans Zimmer score!
Tickets for this madness go on sale Monday, June 11 at 12:00pm EST.
