HBO’s Bored to Death was unceremoniously canceled following its third season last year, leaving fans of the unapologetically yuppieish noire-comedy as unsatisfied as they likely feel after sessions of love-making not immediately precipitated by cocktails and followed by self-loathing over their partner’s irksome Seinfeldian minutiae. Series star Ted Danson, however, recently told French journalist (obviously) Pierre Langlas that a movie is possible and an HBO rep confirmed that there have been “conversations” and that the project is in an early stage.
Langlas’ original (and indeed intéressant, @nick59) tweet has sparked a brush fire of attention from fans of the show, now that previously disenfranchised television aficionados have been invigorated by Arrested Development‘s yet-manifest posthumous success. A single French sentence stirring so many bohemians into a frenzy is normally the sort of thing that signals the start of counter-cultural art movements or civic revolutions, but in this case could merely herald a new song by Jason Schwartzman for the possible film’s credits.
In which case, I’m happily in.
