Netflix Now: Outage & Outrage Edition

0

You may have noticed a problem with Netflix’s Watch Instantly on Christmas Eve. So did millions of others. Netflix experienced a streaming outage throughout the United States, Canada, and Latin America that lasted from Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. According to reports, the outage was caused by a problem at an Amazon center in Virginia. Netflix is currently looking into the matter.

This must have proved especially frustrating to many people who, after braving harsh weather and packed airports, wanted nothing more than to ignore their awful families for just one friggin’ night of peace and quiet — is that so much to ask, dammit?

Not too much new this week on Watch Instantly, which means the Mayans were right. The biggies are The Do-Deca-Pentathalon from the Duplass Brothers and Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer. Flixist’s resident Korean movie-phile Alec Kubas-Meyer ought to be ecstatic since Bedevilled has hit Netflix Instant. Apart from that, not too much else, but isn’t there enough on Netflix Instant already, you selfish, ungrateful worm? (My Christmas was not as bad as I’m making it sound. I ate Indian and Chinese take-out with the family, and we watched Goodfellas while drinking mimosas. It was kind of great. I also got a cardigan.)

Check out what’s new on Netflix Instant after the cut, where you can also get outraged and outrageous.
