By This is one of those occasions where all signs point to a project being a bad idea. While on a good track so far, with Ed Helms starring and Chevy Chase and Beverly D’ Angelo even returning for a cameo, this have been indefinitely delayed on the production for the upcoming Vacation remake. According to The Hollywood Reporter, these troubles come from arguments over the film’s rating:
…the cause of the stoppage is creative differences, with some wanting to make a broader, PG-13 movie while others want to keep it R-rated, like the original. One source says the delay will last only a few months, but others say the movie could be pushed to later this year. It is unclear who fell into what camp and how involved Warner Bros. — New Line’s corporate sibling that must greenlight its movies — was in the decision.
So this is all over a rating issue? Ugh. Honestly, does it matter? Yesteryear’s R rating is today’s PG-13. And besides, what will an R mean currently? A boob shot? A couple of f**ks? Really this shouldn’t even matter with Vacation.
