The new trailer for Muppets Most Wanted claims that “the sequel always strives to be better, bolder, and bigger.” The follow-up to 2011’s The Muppets takes Kermit, Animal, Miss Piggy and the rest of the crew overseas on a grand European adventure. Instead of crammed 15 deep in a five-seater car, this time around we see The Muppets playing poker with P.Diddy in a first-class train on the European countryside. They’re karate-chopping wooden planks, wandering through the desert, and struggling against military officials.
Aside from numerous celebrity cameos, the sequel features Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais, and Ty Burrell in leading roles. For me, the big stars and television comics don’t make up for Jason Segel’s departure. His genuine passion for The Muppets revival shined through his role as Gary and this I will miss. Muppets Most Wanted makes its theatrical debut next spring.
