Taylor Swift to join The Giver, official cast released

If you’ve ever read The Giver you’ve probably been wondering why the heck it hasn’t been made into a movie yet. Well, it’s because Hollywood sucks and things get stuck in development. But the movie starts production next month now that Phillip Noyce is directing and we’ve finally got an official line-up of who will star in the film. The big surprise is Taylor Swift coming on the part of Rosemary, but she’s easily out done by the rest of the cast.

It’s pretty much some dream casting, starting with Australian actor Brenton Thwaites as the lead character Jonas and then complimented by Jeff Bridges as The Giver; Meryl Streep as the Chief Elder of Jonas’s community; Katie Holmes as Jonas’s mother; Alexander Skarsgard as Jonas’s father; Cameron Monaghan as Jonas’s best friend Asher; and Odeye Rush as Jonas’s friend and love interest Fiona. Yea, this is shaping up exactly how 15-year-old me saw it in my head when I was reading the dystopian book.
