By Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 took the top slot at the box office over the weekend with $35 million, which is $5 million better than the first film in the series. There’ll probably be a third Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, which will probably be better than Meatballs III. (Note: Anything is better than Meatballs III, even Meatballs II. [Secondary note: Almost anything is better than Meatballs II.])
Rounding out the top five are Prisoners, Rush, Baggage Claim, and Don Jon. Lee Daniels’ The Butler holds on to the 10 spot, which will probably be its final week in the top ten with some major fall prestige films coming out starting this week.
