Tsai Ming-liang’s Stray Dogs is a painfully long film, and you’ll be able to read more about our thoughts soon when Hubert posts a full review. But for the moment, I thought I’d share these videos with you. Both of us had the same basic idea for our impression videos, but we took it in slightly different directions.
(Note that if you were to composite the two of these together and then make it about 10 times longer, you’d have an actual shot from the film.)
Above is Hubert’s brilliant performance as a stoic person who drinks things. Below is a video of me attempting to cry (and eventually succeeding). If you skip to 45 or so seconds in, watching it will be slightly less painful, but I didn’t cut it, because that would have ruined the joke.
