Hey guys, it’s October! You know what that means: Halloween is right around the corner! As such, we will be bringing you some of our favorite horror film suggestions, in the hopes that they will lead to some sleepless nights. This is…Trick or Treat!
Like yesterday’s installment of Trick or Treat, The Bleeding House was a film I saw during the Tribeca Film Festival a couple years ago, and also like Grave Encounters, it’s absolutely fantastic.
The Smiths are a family just like any other: full of live and with a skeleton or two in their closets. When a man shows up on the doorstep of their thoroughly secluded home citing car trouble, they of course offer him some good ol’ fashion hospitality. At the risk of spoiling things, this was a mistake. But on who’s part?
The Bleeding House is a slow, beautiful burn. It builds an ominous atmosphere, then pulls the trigger and things get real, then it twists and takes everything to a whole ‘nother level. Both the protagonist Gloria (Alexandra Chando) and antagonist Nick (Patrick Breen) deliver fantastic performances that one could measure all others against, and watching the two of them square off was an absolute blast. Written and directed by Europa Report screenwriter, The Bleeding House is easily in my top ten horror films to watch on Halloween.
