It’s been a bit of a rough road for Martin Scorses and his upcoming Wolf of Wall Street. Editing didn’t quite go as planned and the word was that the studio might have to bump the film out of 2013, pretty much guaranteeing a lack of Oscar nominations since early year films almost never garner them at the end of the year. However, Scorses has knuckled down and the film will officially release on Christmas day.
This also means that Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit will probably get moved to 2014 since Paramount was opening it on Christmas Day and it’s never wise to compete against yourself, even if the two films will likely draw different audiences. Considering Wolf could net them an Oscar and Ryan looks underwhelming I think they made the right choice.
