Independence Day originally blew up theaters July 3, 1996 (don’t YOU suddenly feel older?) and I still remember it sort of fondly. It’s honestly been awhile since I’ve seen it. I remember the original had a dog, featured Randy Quaid before he went kookoo bananas, and Will Smith may or may not have said “EARF” instead of “EARTH.”
At least it seems like I’ve got plenty of time to rewatch it as the sequel (technically titled ID Forever: Part One, but it’s such a stupid title) won’t hit until July 1, 2016, two days before it’s 20th Anniversary. That’s a great way to celebrate it, you know, if all of those script problems sort themselves out first.
