Errol Flynn is an interesting character, almost the archetypical devil-may-care 1940’s Hollywood playboy, whose life fell to tatters once his shinning celebrity star began to wane. The Last of Robin Hood is a biopic about Flynn’s life by Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland, and it specifically details the true story of an affair Flynn (played by Kevin Kline) had with the under-aged Hollywood hopeful Beverly Aadland (Dakota Fanning) toward they end of his life that was encouraged by the girl’s fame-hungry mother (played by Susan Sarandon).
The Last of Robin Hood premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall, but Samuel Goldwyn Films just announced that they have acquired the distribution rights for the film and that it will be in American theaters this fall. Along with that, we also have the first poster for the movie which features bold design and the three main characters. Hollywood’s fascination with itself may be unyielding, but it’s only a fraction of the immensity of the public’s obsession with celebrityism.
