Hans Zimmer returns for Batman vs. Superman

In news that should shock no one — he scored Man of Steel, all three Nolan Bat films and probably enjoys getting payed money — Hans Zimmer has confirmed that he’ll be returning for Batman vs. Superman. The prolific composer will return once again once he’s done with some project he can’t talk about, most likely carrying over his work from Man of Steel, but saying he’ll be composing a new theme for Ben Affleck’s Batman.

“That’s my problem, that’s my dilemma. I don’t want to betray, if that’s the right word, the Dark Knight movies. That was Christian, it was Christian’s role,” he explained. “It’s not just that it was nine years of our lives, so you want to stay honest and honorable to that period. So it’s really about, ‘Is there something else I can find that I haven’t tapped into?’ Which I don’t know until I sit down with Zack.”

While this isn’t surprising and Zimmer is a fantastic composer, I’m getting a little tired of him scoring every big action move that comes along. I thought his Man of Steel score did a great job, and it makes total sense to have him back, but one of these days DC is going to have to find a different composer.
