Ever since it was announced, I’ve been very excited for the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers reboot. Regardless of how it turns out (whether it ends up like Transformers or like Rise of the Planet of the Apes), I know I’m going to have a great time as 20 something year olds (which consists of mostly hipsters, really, because it’s “cool” to wear a Power Rangers shirt now) like myself are going to be children in giant adult bodies.
But at least I can worry less about its quality. According to Hollywood Reporter, Saban and Lionsgate have tapped X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. Although Roberto Orci is signed on to executive produce (which doesn’t inspire confidence), he’s got his hand in everything these days so it really doesn’t matter. Besides, Miller and Stentz have the brunt of the writing duties and if the Power Rangers movie has any of the reboot quality First Class has, we’ll have a winner on our hands.
Or if it turns out awful, at least attractive folks in colorful tights will punch other costumed things in the face.
