As expected, The (please let this really be the last one) Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies took over the box office raking in $56 million with its lead in from Wednesday. Since I have very little interest in Lord of the Rings, I totally forgot this was a thing. I’ve heard zero people around me talk about it.
In second, Night at the Museum 3 took in $17 while Annie rounds out the top three with $16 million. With the holiday weekend coming up and everything but The Interview releasing, next week is anyone’s game.
Hit the jump for the box office performances for the December 17-21 weekend.
