Shia LaBeouf has undoubtably been the target for a lot of scrutiny from the mainstream media and public in the last year, but I feel he has transformed (pardon the unintentional pun) himself into one of the most fascinating actors working in Hollywood today. Either he is choosing more inspired roles in movies like Nymphomaniac and Fury, partakes in interpretive dance in Sia’s Elastic Heart music video, or creates a handful of idiosyncratic art projects like #FollowMyHeart. Now he is set to star in American Honey, the next feature film from Andrea Arnold (Fish Tank, Wuthering Heights).
The movie is also written by Arnold, and will follow a young woman who joins a travelling magazine sales crew, and as we all know, with travelling magazine sales crews comes hard parties, law bending and young love. LaBeouf partook in all these activities – sans-Magazine sales – in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, so he is a natural fit.
We don’t know much else about the movie, as it’s still in pre-production, but according to TheHollywoodReporter, ProtagnistPictures will be looking for buyers during the Cannes Film Festival in May.
