John Hurt, legend of stage and screen, has passed away. He was 77 years old.
Hurt’s decades-spanning career took off in the 1960s thanks to Fred Zinneman’s A Man for All Seasons. Just a few of his many other notable film and television appearances include Midnight Express, Watership Down, Alien, The Elephant Man, 1984, Dead Man, V for Vendetta, the Harry Potter films, Only Lovers Left Alive, and Doctor Who. Hurt was knighted in 2015.
Hurt has struggled with his health in recent years. In June 2015 he revealed publicly that he was battling pancreatic cancer. He seemed optimistic about beating it, however, and noted in October 2015 that the cancer seemed to be in remission.
Flixist sends our condolences to Hurt’s family and loved ones.
