First A Wrinkle in Time trailer brings style to a classic

0

Our first look at Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time left me a little underwhelmed. I just wasn’t seeing the sort of magic that the book captured. The first trailer, however, is bringing back my excitement. This looks pretty visually compelling, but, more importantly, thematically compelling as well. The book has always been known for being ahead of its time in many ways, so I love the suburban homogeneity commentary put in the middle there. The “are you lost” line is a sly hint at how the film could tackle some bigger subjects than its kid-friendly sheen implies.

We’ll get to see plenty more as we get closer to the opening day, but I’m excited again. Now to pick up the book for the first time in like 20 years so I can make sure it’s actually as good as nostalgia tells me.
