We are so close to Veronica Mars relaunching that there is no way this is a dream. I’ve been a big fan of the series since my wife forced me to watch it, and it turned out she was very right (as she usually is) in that it was a good show and also awesome and also some of the best neo-noir ever made. The movie gave us all a bit of a reprieve from our desire to return to Mars Investigations, but now we really are and, looking at this trailer things are really serious.
Of course, one of the best things Veronica Mars does is balance the dark with the humor. The entire original run is noir perfection, with a sassy gumshoe written pitch perfectly for Kristen Bell. The new show seems to be leaning into the darker noir aspects heavily, though Bell does get a nice one-liner in the opening of the trailer. I love that they’re leaning heavily into continuity already, and the glimpses of the show’s stellar cast throughout the trailer just make everything more exciting.
What’s more important than all that tone and thematic stuff is that Logan is shirtless a lot. That’s a bonus we can all agree on, even if you’re in the minority like me and think Piz was the right choice.
Season 4 of Veronica Mars premiers on Hulu on July 26.
