The above trailer for A24’s latest scream takes the holier-than-thou attitude of horror killers and fires it straight for the heavens. From director Rose Glass, Saint Maud follows a newly devout hospice nurse as she attempts to save her patient’s soul, but sinister forces and her own devilish history threaten to end her holy calling. Will walking a mile in nail-studded Jesus shoes save her from her personal demons? I don’t know. Maybe. It’s worth a try at least.
The trailer is eerie, tense, and bolstered by a strong song choice. With A24’s sterling track record for bringing stunning arthouse horror to the masses, let’s all mark our (advent) calendars for Spring 2020 when Saint Maud is set to bless theaters.
