IFC Midnight is giving A24 a run for its money with this downright chilling trailer for The Other Lamb. It pushes a feminist cultist tone similar to Midsommar with cinematography and costuming evocative of The Nightingale. The trailer alone makes the hair run up my arms, and I can’t wait to see more.
The film concerns young Selah who was born into a cult and knows no other life. Within the cult she’s cut off from the modern world and lives with other women in a forest commune run by a man named Shepherd. He’s a controlling psychopath, perhaps in the Martha Marcy May Marlene sort of way. After a series of shocking visions and incidents, Selah comes to question her life with the cult and the man who runs their lives.
This is well on my radar, and luckily we won’t have to wait long to experience The Other Lamb‘s full impact as it will lure us into cultish nightmare when it hits theaters and VOD on April 3, 2020.
