Take a fresh gander at Christopher Nolan’s Tenet

0

“All I have for you is a word… ‘Tenet.'”

The current state of American movie theaters might be up in the air still, but Christopher Nolan’s latest will be there to pick up the slack, whenever the doors open once again. So why not pore over a new trailer while we wait?

Set amidst the highest of high-stakes international espionage, Tenet stars John David Washington as an agent on a mission of utmost importance. “Trying to prevent World War III,” as Clémence Poésy’s character puts it. And as is evident in the slightly-surreal goings on here, that involves some world-bending technology.

Look, I’ll be honest. I haven’t watched the trailer. I saw the initial one, and that was more than enough: Tenet is going to be phenomenal.

We round out the cast with Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh. Nolan is reuniting with Interstellar and Dunkirk cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema, as well as composer Ludwig Göransson (who many may know from his excellent work on The Mandalorian‘s first season).

Things are still shaky with the opening of public spaces in the United States and many other countries, with movie theaters clearly demanding a sensitive approach in reopening. While the trailer doesn’t name a specific date for Nolan’s film, the description provided by the official Warner Bros YouTube channel reaffirms the July 17th, 2020 release date, though it’s best to take that with a grain of salt. It’s a lot easier to edit a video’s description than a fully-produced film trailer.

However long the wait may take, it will be worth it.
