By I have literal chills as I write this after seeing the first look at RESPECT. Jennifer Hudson has 100% done it again as she steps into the role of one of history’s most iconic singers Aretha Franklin. We finally get her story and I say it’s about time. The film is set to debut sometime this December when moviegoers hopefully return to theaters after COVID. Tho this is only a “teaser” trailer the messages we hear in it ring true even today.
As someone who only knows Aretha’s iconic song “Respect” but not her story, this film intrigues me. Hudson looks spot-on as her, and if her performance in Dreamgirls was any indication we are in for another Oscar-Worthy performance. Stay tuned as I am sure more information will be revealed in the coming months and as the film says, find out what RESPECT really means.
