By As if 2020 hasn’t sucked enough for the Entertainment Industry, now another big blow has been given to a popular show. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was sadly canceled by Netflix this week. The show only had two seasons and now the final eight episodes of the saga will end it later this year. Ever since I started watching this version of Sabrina it made me feel like I was back in the 90s with Sabrina the Teenage Witch again. Our favorite teen witch hadn’t been seen on television in quite some time so I had a lot of hope for this series. Despite it being a very very dark take based on the comics of the same name it had huge appeal.
Sabrina’s showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa had this to say about working on the show. “The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone’s favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show. I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television, and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can’t wait for everyone to see Part Four.”
According to Netflix, the finale episodes will end on a high note, but it’s still incredibly bittersweet for Sabrina‘s fanbase. The show just brought something different and unique to the franchise and expanded what has become known as “The Archie-verse” on television. It will be sad to see it end, but hopefully, Netflix gives us more characters from the beloved comic books in that universe to watch. Maybe Sabrina will come back in a cameo of some sort? One can only hope.
