Disney lawyers are liking fuming about this one. In a now-deleted Tweet from his official Twitter account, actor Jared Leto accidentally leaked the title of the upcoming third Tron film. Reportedly called Tron: Ares, the actor originally posted the below message with the film’s title properly listed.
I am so very excited and proud to confirm that YES – I will be starring in TRON.
We will work as hard as we possibly can to create something that I hope you all will love.
We have some very special ideas in store for you all…????
See you in the grid!????????????

With yesterday’s news of a director for the project, we’ve got everything but an official word from Disney about this sequel. Whether or not it retains the Tron: Ares title is almost irrelevant: we simply know Tron is happening and Jared Leto is involved.
Leto’s involvement is something that was announced all the way back in 2017, but Disney seemingly couldn’t decide on where to take this sci-fi universe. The project languished for years before finally leaking out over the last few weeks. With how prominent VR is becoming and how interconnected our lives have become thanks to social media, you’d think Tron would be a shoo-in for social commentary. It’s literally the perfect series to do so.
As much of a fondness as I have for the 1982 original, I don’t know how excited I am about this. Tron Legacy was a real dud and I’d like a sequel to not go in such a dark direction. Sure, Disney loves dramas, but maybe bring back the color and wonder what the groundbreaking first film was all about.
