By Comedy Central and HBO have just signed a deal that will see three of the cable network’s shows land on HBO’s streaming service. Fans of The Other Two, South Side, and Nora from Queens will now need to look to HBO Max to get their fix.
Per the agreement, both The Other Two and South Side will be leaving Comedy Central and heading exclusively to the streaming service. Starting with the second season of each show, any and all new episodes will debut and be available for on-demand streaming.
As for Nora from Queens, HBO Max will become the exclusive streaming home of the hit comedy, but Comedy Central will still be debuting and running re-runs of the show for its second season next summer. That doesn’t really make a lot of sense, but I suppose Awkwafina is a big enough draw to ink out a better deal.
Michael Quigley, executive vice president of content acquisitions for WarnerMedia (which owns HBO), said in a statement, “These ground-breaking and hilarious programs are cultural touchstones and we are excited about the diverse group of comedic voices they will bring to HBO Max. We know our audiences will want to watch again and again.” I guess Warner is really banking on Comedy Central programming in absence of anything original.
