By Not even minutes after MGM announced that No Time To Die would be delayed into fall 2021, Sony Pictures Entertainment has revealed that its adaptation of the Uncharted series will now be debuting on February 11, 2022. The Tom Holland starring vehicle that the internet is just “in love” with, this is just the beginning of the delays that were announced by the company today.
Remember Ghostbusters: Afterlife? I keep forgetting that the film is even a thing, but it has now been pushed back from its June 11, 2021, date to November 11, 2021. Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (which I wish I wasn’t reminded of) will be replacing Ghostbusters on June 11, 2021. Finally, director Kay Cannon’s Cinderella is slated for a July 16, 2021, release after previously being scheduled to come out in two weeks.
I’m not sure why Sony believes certain films are more suited for the summer while others aren’t, but I have a feeling tomorrow will be chock full of even more delays. Disney is rumored to be pushing Black Widow back and I’m starting to believe it. That’s usually what happens in any industry: one company makes a move and the others fall in line. We’re seeing a real-time game of dominoes with upcoming movies and it’s kind of crazy. Uncharted was just the beginning.
