Reports are circulating around the net that HBO’s upcoming adaptation of Sony’s The Last of Us game series has nabbed Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as its lead stars. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed both of the actors’ involvement, which will be something of a reunion as both were featured on HBO’s Game of Thrones years ago.
While some across social media are confused with the casting, original Joel voice actor Troy Baker voiced support for Pascal and Ramsey on Instagram. Baker wrote of Pascal, “Full support. Full stop. Can’t wait for you to show me a side of Joel I never knew, Pedro.” For Ramsey, he said, “I got you, baby girl. Congrats Bella Ramsey. Can’t wait to see you kick ass and throw bricks.”
The game’s director, Neil Druckmann (who will also be helping out with the series), also showed a sign of support for the casting decisions. He Tweeted out messages to both stars, welcoming them into the twisted world of The Last of Us.
Honestly, the two seem like solid fits for the series. They already have experience with a dark fantasy setting and both have shown a wide range of abilities in their roles. This could end up being a solid series.
