By Disney has confirmed the premiere dates for both Star Wars: The Bad Batch, an animated spin-off of The Clone Wars, and Loki, the next installment in the MCU. Bad Batch is set to premiere on May 4, 2021, while Loki will be tricking us all on June 11, 2021. The news comes after some confusion was caused this morning when a publication broke an embargo on the Star Wars news.

With the massive success Disney has seen from both The Mandalorian and WandaVision, it makes sense that both of these series wouldn’t be far behind. I also didn’t miss the obvious connection to Star Wars’ made-up holiday with that May 4 date. Disney is clearly going to have merchandise and festivities and all that jazz.
It will be interesting to see if the company can capture the same excitement that its previous streaming offerings provided. Despite how the MCU is a bit long in the tooth and “fans” will never not complain about a galaxy far, far away, TV series based on these properties are a relatively new idea. Fans are enjoying the more intimate and slow-paced look at their favorite franchises, not to mention the return of fan-favorite characters.
I’m not sure I’ll check out either, but at least we know when they’ll be available.
