John Krasinski’s upcoming horror thriller has a new trailer, and in it, we get a peek into why the world is in the state that its in. As Emily Blunt stares at multiple televisions with a reporter using the words “worldwide devastation,” we catch a few quick glimpses of newspaper headlines touting death and destruction and military failure.
In the land of silence, the family of five has maintained its livelihood by staying on sandy paths, stepping carefully to avoid the creaks an old home often has and using sign language as their primary form of communication. Blunt even goes so far as to have the world’s quietest birth, a mission that seems more impossible than any of Tom Cruise’s.
While silence is golden, we do get the first spoken words in this trailer as Blunt asks Krasinski how they’re supposed to protect their children. What is it they’re protecting them from? The easy assumption is aliens since they would seem like a formidable opponent to the world’s militaries. Fortunately, Krasinski has been practicing for this moment for quite some time, and we won’t have to wait long as A Quiet Place hits theaters on April 6th.
