A24 has been hitting it out of the park in recent years. Where as smaller distribution companies are either being bought out or facing bankruptcy. The still young A24 has been putting out award winners and crowd pleasers. While The Kill Team might not be the most easy film to watch, it looks to be just as compelling as all of A24’s other offerings.
Directed by the documentarian Dan Krauss, The Kill Team will revisit a subject covered by Krauss in the documentary of the same name. While I admit that returning to a subject you already covered in a non-fiction format with a fictional gloss is weird, you can’t say that he won’t be knowledgeable. Krauss also won the Oscar for Best Documentary in 2017 with his nearly eight hour film OJ: Made in America.
The Kill Team will highlight a series of murders of civilians by US Army troops during the War in Afghanistan in 2009 and the ensuing cover-up. The movie will release on October 25th this year and will star Nat Wolff, Adam Long, Jonathan Whitesell, Brian Marc, Osy Ikhile, Anna Francolini, Rob Morrow, and Alexander Skarsgård.
