British theatrical, television, and film actor Richard Griffiths has died at the age of 65 this past Thursday. This was due to unfortunate complications following his heart surgery.
Griffiths has had a colorful career spanning the stage and film. For the younger generations, one of his best known roles was his portrayal of Veron Dursley in the Harry Potter series. He was also known for his role as Uncle Monty in Withnail and I and Collins in Gandhi.
For his performance on the stage, he has received several awards for his role in the play The History Boys: the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Play, the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Featured Actor, and a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading actor in a Play.
Incredibly unfortunate for a man with such a expansive and distinguished career to pass away so soon.
