I had absolutely no idea if The Kominsky Method was a good show or not. Hell, I don’t even know anyone who is watching it and I work in an industry where people watch television professionally. But there we all were, watching the Golden Globes, and, wham, it wins best comedic TV show and pulls in a best comedic actor nod. Netflix loves it some awards so obviously we are now getting a second season that no one can watch.
Of course, since Netflix doesn’t release any viewing number we don’t know how many folks actually watched the show, but we can all agree that it didn’t have the cultural clout that many of their other shows gain. Reviews for it haven’t been bad and the Hollywood Foreign Press obviously loves it but one wonders how much those two shiny statues caused this renewal of eight more 30-minute episodes.
I’m not bashing the show here. It could be wonderful. I’m just not very likely to watch it. There plenty of other more intriguing show premises than “two old white guys grumble about the world” for me to use my time on. Maybe someone here can convince me otherwise?
