I am considering watching A Serbian Film for the third time. When I saw it the first time, I was horrified and swore I would never do it again. Then I did, so I could write this article. At the time, I told everybody to stay away from it, and when I did so I thought that that was the thing to do. Time passed, and then I did a video about terrible movies, and I said something about A Serbian Film that struck me as odd:
I can’t say I really recommend it… but it’s worth watching if you have the stomach for it.
Weird, huh? That’s what I thought! And not too long after I did that video, I said that the film deserved to be in the Criterion Collection, and even though that’s not quite as incompatible with my old point of view, clearly things have changed. So that’s what I talk about this week.
Also, since we’re on the topic: if there’s a particular topic you’d like to hear me talk about in a future video, let me know in the comments below (or a private message or a carrier pigeon or whatever). Sometimes I know well in advance, and other times I come up with something the day of, but I’m always looking for more things to say, since I don’t really have an end point for these videos.
Also, things happened on Flixist this week. That can be found below. Also, a pretty big thing happened on Destructoid. You should read about that, since long term that will also help us out, and I know you want to help us out.
