Amid the standard Hollywood news which churns out with the dependable regularity of This Morning’s Farmer, I am grateful for any morsel from the long-awaited Alan Partridge movie to report with an over-eagerness relative to its obscurity. Let Flixist’s other writers have their Frankenweenie trailers and Lego superheroes, I’ve got to get on the BBC gravy train and excitedly announce that The Alan Partridge Movie has been secured by StudioCanal and releases in the UK on August 16, 2013.
Or, for those who’d like to tell it in a slightly wacky way, one hundred and thirty-seven days to 2014.
The film reunites I’m Alan Partridge series writers Steve Coogan (who stars), Armando Iannucci (recently awarded an OBE), and Peter Baynham (, I’m here to help). Production starts in January, and while there’s been yet no word on a limited US release, one is presumably inevitable, so long as slovenly American audiences are not too bloated from their fizzy Benylin or distracted by Yachting Mishaps (some funny, some tragic) to make it to the theater.
