By Though Alejando González Iñárritu is best known for films the films Amores Perros, 21 Grams, and Babel, now he’s going to try his hand at comedy with the film Birdman. Co-written with Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris, and Armando Bo, The Hollywood Reporter describes the plot like so:
The indie follows a former actor, who once played an iconic superhero, as he mounts a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim past glory. The movie will take place in one location over the course of three days as the actor juggles family, career, and his sanity.
It should be interesting to see how Iñárritu approaches light material like this. He hopes to start shooting Birdman in March. In the meantime, Iñárritu is still developing The Revenant, a gritty wilderness drama, that Leo DiCaprio has been mulling over for a while. THR suspects this may be the next film for Iñárritu once Birdman’s all done.
