Rear Window Timelapse from Jeff Desom on Vimeo.
Now that was just plain cool. Jeff Deason, who I now proclaim to be amazingly awesome, stitched together every rear window shot from Hitchcock’s Rear Window and was able to make a time lapse short of the entire film’s events playing out in one shot. Not only does it look really cool, but it’s a testament to Hitchcock’s skill as a director that a film that wasn’t one shot could be put together like this.
I haven’t watched Rear Window in ages, so my mind is a bit foggy on the plot, but Deason says everything plays out in the correct order. It’s kind of hard to pick up on the story if you don’t know it, but if you do it’s really amazing to see it like this. Now I want to know what other movies this could be done to.
