Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are set to star in Amazon’s upcoming Prime series Truth Seekers. A comedy-horror series about paranormal investigators, Pegg and Frost will star as a duo of sorts that team up and try to uncover and film paranormal sightings around the U.K. An overarching conspiracy is said to be the glue that keeps the first season together, leading up to an eventual conclusion that is true to be spooky.
The idea for Truth Seekers goes back to 2017. Pegg and Frost’s production company Stolen Picture, which was co-founded by the duo with Miles Ketley, had proposed the idea as a television project for the studio. Amazon has now picked it up and will be funding production for the first season. Current plans see the season running for eight, half-hour long episodes. Production is set to begin in September.
In a statement given to press, Frost said, “Simon, Miles and I, and everyone at Stolen Picture, are incredibly happy to be making ‘Truth Seekers‘ with our new partners, Amazon Prime Video. It’s been nothing but a joyride in seeing this mad tale of paranormal conspiracy unfold in all its understated brilliance. Amazon’s commitment and support of the show, and of original programming generally, showed us that we couldn’t be collaborating with a bigger or better team.”
Pegg added, “Nick and I are delighted that ‘Truth Seekers‘ has found a home with Amazon Prime Video. We’re looking forward to working closely with them and creating something very special. These are truly exciting times for television, and I can’t think of a better partner than Amazon to accompany us on a return to the smaller screen.”
