By Angelina Jolie recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about her upcoming role in Maleficent, where she will be playing the titular role. While Maleficent is portrayed as full-out evil in the original Disney version of the movie, Jolie hopes to bring some depth to the role. She says that not only is Maleficent really “a great person,” but that there will be “something that’s good for young girls in this.” While the costume design hasn’t been finalized, Jolie states that the horns will definitely be staying.
I always felt a little something for the character given that she doesn’t go all-out on the protagonists until they kill her pet, but it was hard to feel too bad for her when her whole reason for being super evil was not being invited to a baby shower. This does make me think that there could be some interesting aspects to the movie, so it seems like a good idea to keep abreast of the news.
