As someone who has spent his entire adult life guzzling horror movies the same way others do their morning coffee, I can attest to the fact that death is like caffeine–the more, the better. It brings me joy to announce, then, that Artsploitation will be bringing us a double-shot of death espresso style this summer with Dead Dicks and The Dead Ones. As added flavor, like cream and sugar, both of these films look weird as hell.
Dead Dicks sees Becca facing morbid impossibilities after receiving frantic messages from her brother, Richie. At his house, she seems to find his body following a successful suicide attempt. The only issue is that Richie is still alive, and as more of Richie’s corpses pile up the two have to figure out how he continues to be reborn after each suicide. Could it have something to do with the giant vagina in his wall? Yes. Absolutely.
Following in the same spirit of horror that involves death, The Dead Ones sees four high school teens sentenced to a sinister detention in which they’re forced to clean up after a horrific incident at the school. They’re not alone in the halls, however, as four psychos dressed as the Four Horsemen have locked them inside and are hunting them through the already ravaged building. As the teens fight for survival, they must face the echoes of past traumas they’ve tried to forget–and may be condemned to relive. The costuming, lighting, and effects all give a very surreal and sinister feel. It looks grim, grimy, and cool. I’m down for it.

You can expect to check out both of these gnarly and strange bits of gruesome horror when they hit Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD later this summer.
