*Snicker* I bet she is attatched to the hand job! hurr hurr hurr!
Earlier this week, Cinematical attended a live reading at the Austin Film Festival of prospect script The Hand Job. On hand at the reading were Jessica Alba, Bill Hader, Colin Hanks and that girl from Spy Kids. Also in attendance was the lovely Aubrey Plaza, who read the role she’s actually attached to play.
The Hand Job is a comedy set in 1993 about a young woman who graduates high school and is on a quest to gain sexual experience before she goes to college. Based off writer Maggie Carey’s own teen experiences, the script had previously earned a spot in Franklin Leonard’s “Black List”, an underground honor bestowed to the top unproduced screenplays of that year (heralding such winners as The Social Netowrk, Juno and Lars & The Real Girl).
It’s been awhile since we’ve seen a sexual coming *snicker* of age story, much less one from a female perspective. Cinematical promises that the script is both raunchy and hilarious, and I am confident that Ms. Plaza (or Mrs. Bolivar, but she hasn’t accepted yet) will bring her dry charm to the project. My only hope is that if the script does get picked up, they’ll stick to their guns and not change the title. Also, that Aubrey Plaza will get naked. Two hopes then.
